Press Release – 5 Horizons Ventures to Lead TargTex’s Series A Financing to Support Phase 1/2a Clinical Trial in Australia
5 Horizons Ventures to Lead TargTex’s Series A Financing to Support Phase 1/2a Clinical Trial in Australia
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, U.S.A. & TORRES VEDRAS, PORTUGAL, October 14, 2026 — 5 Horizons Ventures LLC, a U.S.-based biotechnology venture investment firm focused on supporting clinical-stage emerging biotechnology companies and TargTex SA, a Portuguese biopharmaceutical company pioneering first-in-class transient receptor potential vanilloid 2 (TRPV2) allosteric antagonists for cancer and cardiovascular diseases, today announced that 5 Horizons Ventures will lead TargTex’s Series A financing round.
“We are excited to be partnering with 5HV on this significant endeavor and feel they are well suited given their biotech investment track record and clinical development expertise. This funding will support the advancement of TTX101 into human clinical development where we hope to see the same meaningful therapeutic impact in recurrent glioblastoma, or GBM, patients as we have seen in the extensive preclinical studies conducted thus far on this compound” commented Dr. João Seixas, CEO of TargTex.
The Series A financing will support the advancement of TargTex’s lead product candidate, TTX101, into a first-in-human Phase 1/2a clinical trial in patients with recurrent GBM, one of the most aggressive, difficult-to-treat, and lethal forms of brain cancer, which is expected to initiate in Australia in the first half of 2027. This financing will also support TargTex’s establishment of a local presence in Australia to facilitate clinical trial execution and strengthen collaborations with leading Australian clinical and research partners as well as advance the development of the company’s preclinical oral TRPV2 antagonist, TTX209, for the treatment of cardiomyopathies.
“Brain cancer remains an area of profound unmet need, and TTX101 represents a highly differentiated approach, combining a novel therapeutic mechanism with localized delivery directly into the post surgical tumour cavity. Australia has a world-class clinical and translational ecosystem, and programs such as TTX101 illustrate the opportunity and important role Australian clinicians, researchers and investors can play in accelerating the translation of innovative therapies to patients with Glioblastoma. We are excited about the prospect of TargTex bringing its first in human trial of TTX101 to Australia.” said Sam McGuane, CEO of the Brain Cancer Centre.
TargTex will be attending and participating in the AusBiotech International Conference 2026, Australia’s biggest week in biotech, from October 19th to 23rd and the company has also been selected to present at Capital Sprint: Venture, part of the AusBiotech International Conference on the Gold Coast. Dr. Seixas will be one of six speakers presenting at the event, scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 3:50 p.m. AEST at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Center.
The selection follows TargTex’s application through AusBiotech’s Investor Readiness Platform. Capital Sprint: Venture showcases private life sciences companies, giving investors a concise view of their investment opportunity, progress and next development milestone.
Dr. Seixas and the TargTex team will lead discussions on the company’s science, clinical program and Australian development plans. 5 Horizons Ventures will also attend, leading investment discussions with Australian family offices, venture capital firms and high-net-worth investors as the company works toward completing the financing round.
“We are pleased to lead this investment and work alongside Dr. Seixas, his team and our Australian partners to advance TargTex’s clinical program,” said Aaron Ray, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of 5 Horizons Ventures. “Our role extends beyond capital. We are bringing together investment, clinical expertise and local relationships to support the trial and help TargTex deliver the therapeutic potential of TTX101 to the greatly underserved GBM patient population.”
